Earth has avoided nuclear war and alien invasion, but the process of evolution has sped up exponentially
due to climatic change. Greater degrees of variation seem to emerge with every new generation, but many fail to reach adulthood.
Xygon has been working with Earth Governor 3 for seven and a half years to try and stabilize the rate of mutation.
Melanie thinks they are going the wrong way about things....
for Melanie had an amazing ability to
determine what genes were needed for
the survival of this evolving human
species
. However if she was to be heard she
would need to convince the governor,
himself that Xygon had another
motive. He wanted to be the best at
any cost. she knew that being a man he
had more chance
of being heard by Earth Governor 3,
than she did, but she had to try.
Just as Melanie was pondering over
all of this, there was a knock at the
door. It was Ben.
'B-b-b-en! I-I-I wasn't expecting you, b-b-but I
need your h-h-help. I have an idea how we can c-c-
convince the governor.'
'Melanie, I haven't got time to
listen to more abstract suggestions.
If you've got something to say, make
it good.'
It took all Melanie's strength not
to throw the documents she was
holding, at Ben's head.
'B-Ben, I h-have new evidence of a
conspiracy!' She said, gritting her
teeth and waving the documents in the
air.'
Ben hurried over to calm the situaton
but Melanie just simply could not
quell her anger. Ben ducked but it
was too late. The papers landed
unceremoniously on top of him as
Melanie's sexy little butt disappeared
around the corner.
Ben was obviously meant to follow and
did so quite eagerly. Catching up he
eyed the 'goods' a moment longer.
Melanie stopped and turned to face him
quite abruptly which caused him to bump
into her ever so lightly. But
that was enough to cause a blush to
creep up into his cheeks. He cleared
his throat and spoke hastily.
'Right...so what's this about a
conspiracy? What new evidence? This'd
better be good, Melanie. I don't have
time to waste.'
'I th-think Xygon is trying to
increase the rate of mutation, not
stabilize it.' Blurted out Melanie.
Ben looked shocked and then started to
laugh. 'Why would Xygon do that? He's
been working long and hard
on this project.'
'Don't you th-think it's strange
that in all this t-time there's been
no progress in s-slowing the rate of
mutation
down?' said Melanie.
Ben looked at her
for a moment then said, 'What are you
talking about? I've seen
the figures. They show a steady drop
in new cases'.
Melanie tossed the
documents she'd been gripping tightly
in her
hands at Ben. 'T-Take a look at this.
I f-found these on Xygon's desk last
night.'
Ben looked at her with
suspicion. 'What were you doing
rummaging around Xygon's desk?'
As his troubled gaze fell on Melanie's
face, Ben growled softly and focused
his attention on the documents before
him.
For a brief moment Ben looked shocked,
but then to Melanie's surprise, Ben
said, 'How do I know this is
not something you've planted to make
Xygon look bad? God knows you've always
been jealous of him.'
Melanie just
stared
in disbelief. 'Don't be an idiot Ben'
she bellowed. 'I'm telling you the
truth. Why would I lie?'
Ben looked curiously at Melanie. He
could tell she was really upset when she
lost her stutter. 'Hey!' he said,
'I'm sorry, I know you wouldn't lie to
me.' He'd regretted the comment as
soon as it left his mouth.
It had long been rumored that Melanie
liked Ben and that the two of them had
been having an affair.
Rumors abounded in that close knit
community of researchers. Ben would
have liked those rumors to be true,
alas no.
Melanie seemed oblivious. Instead, he
decided, he would focus on the evidence
at hand. What did it all mean?

Ben gazed down at the jumble of letters
and numbers, was it code? He glanced up
at Melanie and said
In reality she was waitng for him to
again lose himself in the waves of her
throbbing #&*%.
