The rain was pelting down as Denise ran across the road holding a soaked newspaper above her head.
Unbeknown to her, what looked like a small innocent puddle near the curb, turned out to be a
rather deep pot hole. She gave a small yelp as her right foot twisted and delivered her sprawled
across the footpath. Liddy, her best friend, stood under a shop awning laughing hysterically.
Beside her stood a young man with a grimace on his face. He quickly ran over to Denise and
lifted her to her feet.
'Are you alright?' he asked.
'I think I've twisted my ankle', replied Denise.
'Here, put your arm across my neck and lean on me'
Liddy was still laughing hysterically, trying to wipe the tears out of her eyes.
'Oh Freddy, she's OK. Don't fuss so.'
'No Liddy, I don't think I am OK. My ankle really hurts.' said Denise.
'This is a rather unusual way to meet'
Denise stuttered as she gazed up into
his face.
A gentle smile came across Freddy's
face as a mass of jumbled thoughts
tumbled in his head.
Frederich had inadvertently touched
Denis's breasts as he had leant over
to lift her, instantly their
elasticity had sent a
gripping burst of passion through his
whole body but somehow he managed to
control the lust he felt for this
amazingly beautiful woman. He breathed
in with a sigh and smiled, but oh!
that smile was so hard to make
while his whole body desired her so.
With a snap of his sister's fingers
Freddie came back down to Earth and
his smile became much more relaxed.
'Where have you been?' Liddy
asked impatiently. 'We have been
waiting for ages.'
'Never mind where I've been, where are
we going?' And thanking freddy, she
kissed him on the cheek. He felt
elated.
Liddy, ignoring this
affectionate interaction, said 'You
will just have to wait until we get
there.'
'Some groovy scene I hope,' said
Denise.
'Well we're not going to
the pub, if that's what you mean.'
replied
Liddy.
Freddie said, 'Oh it's not
that place that Robert was going on
about?'
'Could be,' said Liddy.
Denise thought of her ankle and
grimaced. 'Liddy, I just don't think I
can make it that far.
There's a little place just around
the corner. We can stop for a cup of
tea. Wait out the rain.'
Liddy, and Denise with the help of
Freddie, walked very slowly around the
corner, and there in front was Robert.
Nikki got off the bus and hurried
across Canning Highway so that she
didn't get seen by her brother Robert.
Liddi knew Robert, so cheerily called
to him to join them. He came over, and
seeing that Denise was limpling,
lifted her effortlessly into his
strong arms. There was instant
chemistry.
Her ankle was swelling
but the feelings that were surging in
his body for Denise were so enigmatic
Liddi stood with her mouth gaping, while
Freddie seethed quietly.
Denise could feel no pain as Robert
clutched her, she found him mysterious
and so masculine, this appealed to her.
Robert carefully carried Denise down the
lantern-lit stairs as the haunting music
beckoned them. His strong arms melted
her pain.
'Where are you going?' yelled
Liddy. Jealousy quite obvious in her
voice.
This seemed to knock them out of
their romantic daydream.
Robert jerked
his head around and said 'Come on
there's
a great little pub down here.'
When they reached the bottom of
the stairs it took awhile for their
eyes to adjust because it was dimly
lit. A pair of doorways, equidistant,
on the far wall offered choices.
Momentary silence gave them pause for
thought.
Should they go to this pub or indulge in
their luster? With the smell of lust
in the air, oh no!
Freddie broke the silence with a
very obvious cough and said 'the pub's
on the right love birds.'
Unseen, Nikki lingered atop the
stairs Oh Rob, Not little Denise too!
Its Sickening! she thought, not
entering the turk.
She hurried away from the horrid
little den. It was a favourite of
Robs - no proper seats just cushions.
Typical of Robs little places
hiding a cheap little rat hole like
that behind a veneer of bohemian
aspirations!
It started drizzling and she started
the long walk home telling herself,
repeatedly, that she was done with
them.
'Mmph...' grumbled Denise as Robert
placed her gently down on a nearby
bench. 'Come on, Freddie, it's so nice
outside!'

Note: If you want to start a new paragraph, just begin the sentence with <br> and type your first word directly after it with no space
Act 1. Develop the characters in view of the outline. We seem to be getting a lot of emotions and some breasts, but how about we get the story moving! They need to get off the street and maybe go and meet Robert somewhere interesting. Don't forget they are in London in 1965. Hmmm, I think we are getting a bit side tracked here. It is a good idea to keep to just the main characters at the moment. Don't forget it is a short story. We don't want too many characters in it, otherwise the story could get confusing. So Nikki can't stay long, OK!
